Aude - Lézignan-Corbières: the PCF proposes a vaccination strategy

Gathered at the Lézignan vaccination center, where Rémi Pénavaire officiates as a retired doctor, the leaders of the Communist Party revealed their intention to be "force of proposal" so that vaccination reaches the expected level.

“The Regional Health Agency must allow local authorities to take over vaccination, believes the elected official from Lézignan. Now that most people are vaccinated, we must meet those who are isolated, for a better efficiency. There are about 20% of people who refuse vaccination, we must not put up with it. We must explain, speak, put the arguments on the table without stigmatizing. And for that, we need proximity. The retired doctor fears the current increase in Covid figures: "We are reliving 2020 as if we had learned nothing". An observation shared by Denis Renard who affirms that the current vaccination strategy is "defective, because decided from above, by the Head of State alone, and without any consultation with elected officials, trade unions or associations".

A new instance

To do this, the Communist Party recommends the creation of a body which would bring together many public and private actors, "a place of debate which could define a policy closer to the people and which would be representative of society in order to be better accepted by We start from the observation that, grouped and coordinated within an ad hoc body, the people representing the citizenship, the world of work, health professionals, the CPAM and the ARS, will be much more effective in building and deploying a health strategy of which they will have been stakeholders".

The future legislative candidate also advocates a change of scale, for better management of the pandemic. "Who says pandemic says global problem, whereas the current strategy is only national. The dangers posed by mutations are very great, which is why we must fight to lift patents, and so that all countries can access to the vaccine. For the moment, the vaccine strategy is subject to the financial interests of the big firms".

These proposals will be sent to the representatives of the State, to the Departmental Council, to the Regional Council and to the local authorities.
