Autism and inclusive habitat, the long way ...

She carried and still carries the project at arm's length. And she is a pioneer in the process...Fabienne Such is the mother of Adrien, a young non -verbal autistic of 25 years, insulin -dependent diabetic. This teacher of schools, graduated from an autism and one of the learning and neuro-development disorders, has turned into an entrepreneur when she understood that she would not find a support and take-in solutionload adapted for his son.

In 2015, a study estimated at 340 (at least) the number of people with autistic people without a reception solution in Languedoc-Roussillon.An even stronger deficiency for adolescents leaving school life and young adults. So Fabienne Such decided to create this solution herself: an innovative and sustainable system of inclusive housing for social and professional support of adult people autistic.

Sustainability and governance

The path to give birth to his project has gone through the creation of the ASF34-Col'oc Autisme association, "to reflect on an alternative", she recalls.Quickly, Fabienne Such is interested in the model of cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC) in the field of the social and solidarity economy.

His project is accompanied for eighteen months by Alter'Ucub, the regional social innovation incubator of the Regional SCOP Union in Montpellier.

Today, SCIC Autism Inclusion Services Training has 25 members and four colleges on the board of directors: professionals, beneficiaries, partners and guarantors of project.

The foot to the stirrup

Autisme et habitat inclusif, le long chemin…

Since 2019, the MIA has opens the inclusive housing path for deficit autistic. In Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, next to Montpellier, it welcomes five young adults autistic people in shared workers, accompanied by a team of six educators.Families have no dependent rest: a young autistic perceives generally 1.150 euros in aid and allowances, and pays 900 euros/month all inclusive for rental.SCIC employs four full -time permanent employees and six employees at its home help partner.

The global approach to the project plans to support young autistic people towards employment by involving them in local businesses. The ACE de Pic association (120 merchants and entrepreneurs of Pic Saint-Loup) has already signed a letter of commitment to welcome them when they are ready.

An integrated training center

The SCIC receives an inclusive habitat package (60.000 euros for one year) as part of a regional intervention fund contract. The Orange Foundation, the Autisme France and Autistic Sans National Foundation support the provision of furniture and educational and educational materials for the MIA roommates.

But the balance of the economic model - "complex", points Fabienne Such - is also based on resources from various activities that SCIC offers: "We sell support services by mobilizing employees of Autism Inclusion to animate projectslike cafes-parents, "sprinkle" cafes or the implementation of personalized projects, etc..For ASF34-Col'oc autism, Solidarité Autisme LR or our partners ”.

But above all, the project calling on a fine knowledge of the neuro-developmental specificities of autism or specific communication and teaching methods, SCIC includes a certified training center (a salaried trainer and temporary workers)MIA staff or other establishments, but also relatives and caregivers.

Because the project aims at self-financing, and Fabienne Such wants to swarm on other territories in order to multiply the answers adapted to autism: “We will open a second house in July 2021 in Prades-le-Lez, with five deficit autistic andThree Asperger profile autists.Financial balance can only be reached from two habitats.By opening this second house, we will create twelve jobs, and we will then be able to pool human resources between the two MIAs ”.

Inclusive and social landlords

For the time being, the SCIC praises the houses to private donors. But Fabienne Such has already in mind the next step: bringing social landlords into dance.Inclusive habitat revolves around a social and shared project project, the objective of which is to promote living together to limit the risk of isolation of fragile audiences and which, only could not access housing.
