New star of the decoration, the canopy settles in the kitchen to bring light and character in our interior. Zoom on 10 kitchen canopies spotted on Houzz France that make us want.

Perfect for delimiting without dividing or isolating and bringing cachet and light, the kitchen canopy blends in between two spaces. From the classic yet charming “workshop canopy” to the more unstructured versions, this glazed partition allows for all the fantasies to match any atmosphere. Because, contrary to certain received ideas, the interior canopy does not only fit into an industrial style. The proof with these achievements spotted on the Houzz.fr site. Kezako? It is an online space for connecting individuals and professionals (architects, builders, decorators and craftsmen) in order to find the ideal interlocutor when it comes to embarking on work. It has a community of millions of owners, home professionals and decoration enthusiasts around the world.

Why install a kitchen canopy?

We often dream of a kitchen open to the living room in order to gain space and conviviality. But the "all open" can cause some inconvenience. Because, who says cooking, says cooking and therefore smells. So why not adopt the fully glazed kitchen canopy from floor to ceiling? In addition to playing a protective role, it will create a feeling of lightness while letting the light circulate. In a small area, it allows spaces to be isolated without breaking the view or reducing the room. We can also simply fall for its trendy and decorative side, which gives style to our interior. So, to bring clarity, identify areas or give character, we say "yes" to the kitchen canopy. But how to choose it well?

What model of kitchen canopy?

We can distinguish two large families of kitchen canopy: semi-glazed with basement and full-height glazed. In the semi-open kitchen version, it will be ideal for hiding our little mess, creating storage or hanging a TV on the lower part. Completely glazed, it will reveal our food routine while enhancing the space. The choice of the color of the frame, meanwhile, will amplify the desired atmosphere. For a holiday home spirit and spreading softness, we set our sights on a white frame. Do you want a characterful or more industrial decor? We then succumb to the charm of the black frames. In terms of materials, it all depends on the budget. Aluminum, cheaper than steel, will lose thermal and sound insulation, but will prove to be light and robust. Equally robust, the wooden kitchen canopy. It will have better insulation than those in aluminum and it will be possible to paint it as we wish. Unstructured glass, frosted glass, stained glass, windows, sliding doors, fixed openings… all options are possible.

How to put a kitchen canopy?

The installation of a canopy cannot be improvised and one does not embark on the removal of a wall without the advice of an expert. DIY beginners, so go your way because the preparation and assembly can quickly turn into a headache. Load-bearing wall, electrical circuit, dimensions, joints… so many constraints to take into account for a stunning result. But do not panic ! There are turnkey kits to give in to the call of the canopy when it is not used to replace an existing partition.

Avant/Après : Quelle verrière de cuisine pour mon intérieur ?

Like a box facing the living room, interior designer Hakim Reguig of the Hèdrea agency imagined a black glass roof surmounting a low wall painted white. A glass door completely isolates the apartment from cooking odors while providing light.

The kitchen, "in its own juice", must be fully furnished and above all undergo some work, like the rest of this three-room apartment.

In order to enlarge the apartment, the three-room apartment has become a large, bright two-room apartment where the living space and the kitchen have been combined. A glass roof with a white frame, inspired by Mondrian, serves as a partition with the bedroom. To maintain a bit of privacy without losing brightness, the architect Aurélien Duny, who worked with the all-body company Sweet Home Paris, mixed transparent windows and “glass printed with small squares”.

Relegated to the back of the apartment, the owners and Hélène Paoli, interior designer from the Archipelles agency, decided to move the kitchen. To promote conviviality while protecting against odors, a large bay window with a door separates it from the dining room.
