Explosion in the rue de Trévise: the Council of Paris votes the agreement to compensate victims
An agreement which the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo did not fail to welcome. "This is the first time in the history of the law of compensation, that a public authority participates in public compensation", underlined the elected official, whose City is indicted in this file.
It is an "unprecedented decision" which was made "without waiting for the conclusions of the criminal trial which will establish the responsibilities" and in order to "help those whose tragedy has upset their lives", has otherwise declared the socialist. The mayor of Paris had initially refused such an agreement, fearing that it "presumed his guilt". However, she had been under pressure for several months by the associations which accused her of "playing the clock".
This slow reaction has also been criticized by the opposition. Maud Lelièvre, elected from the modem Democrats and Ecologists group, thus regretted to BFMTV that the community seemed "more worried about its possible responsibility than to provide listening and concrete and rapid responses to the height of this drama". Mayor LR of the 7th arrondissement Rachida Dati felt that rejoicing at this "legal innovation" was "indecent".
