Santa Claus brings him bitcoins - here is a fabulous new Christmas story, but in crypto sauce this time. While spending a few days with his family for the end of year celebrations, this very early Bitcoin (BTC) user found access to a real cryptocurrency.

The endless problem of lost private keys

Under the pseudonym of "Bitcoinholderthanku", a Bitcoin connoisseur (BTC) of the first hour posted on Reddit his (re) fantastic discovery of his BTCs buried for a long time.

He explains that it all starts around 2011-2012: while he was playing a video game called "Dark Orbit" with his friends, our student discovered that he could supply himself in "Uridium" (the currency ofgame in question) thanks to a strange new digital currency called Bitcoin.

He would then have managed to accumulate the (today fantastic) sum of 127 bitcoins, simply by "completing polls, watching videos" and other small random tasks on the internet!

Our young man went to spend a week with his grandfather for the Christmas holidays. It was then that, this December 22, 2020, he found his old Dell brand computer in the attic.

By lighting this relic of the past, he discovers a text file simply called "keys" (keys). As you can imagine, it was in fact private keys that give access and control to its old Wallet Bitcoin!

Barely his 127 BTC found, the young man could not hold such pressure and sold everything quickly. He indeed found an exchange platform which practiced the exchanges of bitcoins of over will (over-the-cout, or otc) which agreed to take back the entire treasure, against "0.15 % ofcommission ".

However, in a section entitled "What I would have done differently", he explains that with a little more perspective and composure:

Indeed, even without speaking to resell right at the highest of the $ 42,000 that Bitcoin has offered us in recent days, it could easily have made him $ 1 million more in his bag.

To those who criticize him for having sold his bitcoins, the young man explains that after all, he held a "hodl for 8-9 years, which is more than the vast majority of users of cryptocurrencies I think".Indeed, you have to succeed in holding the emotional shock ... which is never easy with our favorite, Bitcoin!
