First on skateboards

Anne started customizing a year and a half ago. She first decorated skateboards, before starting to paint on clothes. She continued this project under the pseudonym ASCARREAU after the first confinement. A business that the Lille resident is developing in parallel with her master's degree in Commerce, which she should finish in a few months.

“I really like the world of tattoos, I am tattooed myself. I decided to offer my services in two forms. Either tailor-made and we create everything together, or I offer flashes, like at a tattoo artist, ”says the 24-year-old student.

Anne creates the designs digitally and can then paint them onto your clothes. The idea is not to make something new, but rather to give style to old jeans or a thick fabric jacket. "If the person doesn't have a piece to give me, I can hunt for them in thrift stores or on the internet, favoring the local as much as possible," adds the clothing tattoo artist.

Colorful unisex clothes

The hyper-colored and peppy stains have become his trademark. But Anne doesn't just do that. One of his favorite creations, for example, is his dragon jacket: “For this one, I was inspired by a trip to Asia. I have my axes of inspiration, but I adapt to the person for the orders”.

Just to give you an idea, a jacket costs 25 euros, to which you must add the cost of customization. It is made on estimate and varies according to the difficulty of the drawing, the time of design and realization. If you prefer to customize a jeans pocket, count 60 euros for about 3 hours of tailoring.

The designer explains: “The important thing is that the final product corresponds perfectly to the client. Often the models have a meaning for everyone”. By the way, all the models offered are unisex.

Towards upcycled models

For her creations, Anne uses textile paint that impregnates the fabric, and Posca markers. Everything is then fixed with a special varnish. But ASCARREAU still recommends washing clothes at a maximum of 30 degrees so that it stays clean.

She has also taken up embroidery for a few models: “I got my mum’s sewing machine and took lessons, but I would like to do a complete training course”. For the moment, she has set up her workshop at home, in Wazemmes, but will probably move to Paris to follow a CAP couture.

What the designer would like to do in the near future is upcycling. That is to say designing her own pieces from recovered fabrics and giving them a second life.

His website is in the works. In the meantime, to get a glimpse of his work, it's happening on Instagram. If his singular style seduced you and you wish to place an order, just send him a short email to the following address: as.carreau@hotmail.com
