Porto Social Summit: what objectives for the European Union by 2030?
In 2017, European leaders came together to endorse the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR), which included 20 principles to guide the European social agenda.
The Porto Social Summit took place on May 7 and 8, 2021, under the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union (EU). It brought together the Heads of State and Government of the Member States, the President of the European Commission and the Commissioners with competences in the social field, the President of the European Council, the President of the European Parliament, the representatives of the political groups of the European Parliament, European social partners and representatives of civil society.

Beyond a political impetus, this Social Summit thus enabled the commitment not only of the European institutions and the Member States, but also of companies, trade unions and civil society towards the implementation of the EPSR .
