How do I connect a garden hose to a kitchen or bathroom tap?
Today I'm going to talk to you about a POP. A POP on this blog is a small practical object. The one of the day is perfect for the warm season. It allows me to water the plants on my balcony with a hose without having an outside tap. And yes in copro it is very difficult to have a rainwater collector. This small object allows me in no time to drink to my plants without having to refuel the sprinkler at the kitchen faucet. Presentation of the GARDENA adapter to connect a hose to an indoor tap.
A connection between the inside and the outside
It was from the GARDENA brand that I went looking for this adapter. The manufacturer anticipates somewhat quickly that his system can be adapted to any valve with a male or female threaded thread. It will only be suitable for taps with a female M22 x 1 thread and a male M24 x 1 thread.
My sink tap wasn't in this case, but I wasn't going to give up for so little.
Looking a little further I identified under the term "beak connection" the object that would allow me to move from the threads of the mitiger with shower of my kitchen sink to the threads compatible with the GARDENA system. If your mixer is also in 15 x 21 format you can find a nozzle connector at Leroy-Merlin (or other of course). This adapter "beak connector, male / male 15 x 21 / 22 x 100 mm" is sold there for €4.40.
The final installation will therefore be:
Easy to install
The installation of the system is very simple. We're starting from the existing kitchen faucet. To unscrew the existing beak and install the new one.
All you need to do is:
Unscrew the beak in place
Screw the nozzle connector
Screw the new beak with the (foam inside) on the collar with the ring
There's no complicated plumbing work! This manip is in fare only once. The nozzle supplied by GARDENA includes the seals and foaming device allowing it to be left permanently without loss of comfort.
Easy to use
When I need to water, I just need to position on the new nozzle, the plastic connector, and finally hang up the hose. The connector is positioned on the beak and is secured by the orange piece, which, by sliding, temporarily tightens the kitchen mixer and the garden hose.
The hose fitted with GARDENA attachment systems is then clipped onto the adapter.
It is very simple to install / uninstall. These operations are powerless and can even be carried out with one hand if necessary.
Among the advantages I find in this solution are:
Simple installation without work (know how to screw and unscrew)
An installation on any faucet if you find the right nozzle connection.
When in use, quick attachment and removal
Compatible with GARDENA watering systems
Fully leakproof system (to be confirmed over time)
On the downside, I noted:
Possibly need a nozzle connection for installation (luckily inexpensive)
Immobilization of the indoor faucet for the time of watering
Watering system that must be stowed after use
Conclusion
This system is very useful for using a garden hose where an outside valve is missing. It will be perfect for balconies or terraces. It can also be used by all children's swimming pool owners to provide water directly at good temperature. Because yes, one of the advantages of this system is that connected to an indoor tap it will be able to deliver cold water for plants and lukewarm water for impatient and cold toddlers.
The GARDENA indoor tap adapter system is available for about €10. For example, it is currently being sold on Amazon for a price of €8.99.
By adding €33 for a 15m long hose with its storage bracket, I can water the many plants on my balcony quietly and quickly. If not (for the moment …) To be able to automate it, I'm making it easier for myself.
